Baylor Dean Leah Teague - Opening Keynote Speaker
Leah Witcher Jackson Teague, Associate Dean and Professor of Law at Baylor Law School, will be the speaker for the opening session of the Texas State Organization Convention. Dean Teague’s presentation will focus on women in leadership today, a subject of vital importance to her. For over twenty years she was the primary tax professor at Baylor. She currently teaches Leadership Development as part of Baylor Law’s Leadership Development Program, which she created.
Dean Teague is an active proponent of increasing diversity in leadership in society and in education. At the national level, she is the Chair-Elect and co-founder of the Leadership Section of the American Association of Law Schools. She is an appointed member of the American Council on Education’s Women’s Network Executive Council, a national advisory council to the Women’s State Network. She was a Founding Board Member of Texas Women in Higher Education, Inc. Dean Teague is also an alumna of Leadership Texas and the Leadership America program.
Dean Teague is also active in leadership and education programs in her hometown of Waco. She was a founding member of the Greater Waco Community Education Alliance, a community- wide initiative to raise the level of support for the education of each student from birth to post- secondary education or training. She also was a founding member of the Greater Waco
DKG International Representative
June Bowers, a forty-year member of DKG and member-at-large, 2016-2020, will be the international representative to the Texas State Organization Convention. June believes that a member must be active and give to the Society in order to recognize and reap the benefits given by the Society.
Living her beliefs, June has participated at all levels of the Society including chair of the Personal Growth and Services committee, Membership committee, and the Arts & Humanities Jury. In addition, she has served as northwest regional director and as president of the Nebraska State Organization and Lincoln’s Zeta chapter.
June is excited to meet all the Texas members in Waco and again at the 2018 International Convention in Austin. Every member in attendance in Austin will be part of the decision-making process of updating our Constitution and designing the Society’s future. I challenge each of you to be a part of building the success and future of The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International! DKG is moving forward while embracing our vision of being Leading Women Educators Impacting Education Worldwide.
Wendy Gates Corbett - Celebration Lunch Speaker
Wendy Gates Corbett will be the keynote speaker at the Celebration Brunch on Saturday, June 16. Ms. Corbett is the president of Refresher Training, LLC. She works with professionals to develop their presentation skills according to their unique style and message. In 2016, she was Speaker Coach and Slide Designer for TEDxRaleigh. Her credits include membership in the international board of directors for the Association for Talent Development, the Presentation Guild and Black Women in Business. In addition, Ms. Corbett has been a contributing author for three books: 101 Ways to Make Learning More Active Beyond the Classroom; 101 More Ways to Make Training Active; and SCORE! For Webinar Training: Super Closers, Openers, Revisiters, Energizers. According to her website, Wendy Gates Corbett is “on a mission to bring more hope, health, and happiness into this world by helping others find the courage to use their voice.”
